Check the shots from a recent headshot session. These are for Johnny Kaye, bassist from Stars of Boulevard. He’s an old friend and a long time client.

It’s never too late to start learning something new. I figured it was about time to add another skill set to my arsenal so I began learning how to 3D model. It’s a great way to practice pre-visualization and lighting techniques.
This model was a result of painstaking work following this lesson. I was able to learn several basic and advanced modeling techniques which I’m now using to create my own models. Stay tuned I will post them shortly.

Check out the new photos from my latest shoot!
This was a creative collaboration between me and my stylist Amber Dennis. Amber has a very keen eye for rock inspired outfits and we wanted to build the shoot around that. Local gastown boutique Board of Trade also supplied several key wardrobe pieces.

A close friend recently asked me to photograph him and his girlfriend with their newborn baby girl. Although newborn photography isn’t something I do, this opportunity gave me a chance to step out of my comfort zone and try something different.
We had very beautiful afternoon light flooding through a large window in their living room, so most of the shoot took place there. I used a large reflector as fill. The reflector has been the most used tool in my arsenal the last few shoots, there’s really nothing that beats natural light, especially for situations like this.
Great success!

This is a quick video of me editing a photo in Photoshop.
This image was pretty good from the start so my only concern was nailing the color and removing a few distracting elements.
I mostly used curves and masks to achieve the final look. The change isn’t drastic, but enough to give the image a bit more pop.

Last Sunday I went skydiving for the first time. This was at the top of my bucket list since I was a kid so it was nice to finally get it out of the way. If you’ve never jumped out of an airplane before, I highly recommend it. The rush of free fall is unrivaled and leaves you with the feeling of having just conquered the world.
Unfortunately it looks like I just found another expensive and time consuming hobby that I want to pursuit. I’m already planning my next jump and window shopping for gear and have decided on a 10 year goal to BASE jump with a wingsuit. You have to dream big.
Check out the video I made of the jump. Excuse the camera ADD, I was a bit overwhelmed by the view. Big thanks to Skydive Vancouver for an awesome experience!
